productivity for photographers can be a constant battle

Many photographers tell me how they struggle with productivity and procrastination.  Often a by-product of working alone.  In this blog, we are looking at 5 tips to help you be more productive in your day.

Schedule
your work day

If we don’t plan our days then they will fill up with non-important things.  Don’t let that happen.

Write out 3-7 tasks the night before that is important to get completed.

Do not
multi-task

We might live in a world that celebrates multi-tasking.  But all it does is reduce your productivity by 40%.

It’s time to celebrate focusing on one thing at a time!

Identify your productive time

Everyone is different.  But we all have a time in the day we are more focused and productive.  By working out yours you can get more done.

Mine is in the morning, if I get up at 6 am I can achieve so much more.  But yours might be 1 pm.

Manage your diary around this time.  To ensure you get the most out of your day.

Just 5
minutes

A great trick to get started on the task your putting off.  Is to decide to work on it for just 5 minutes.

Surprisingly when we trick ourselves this way, we end up working for longer.  Often even completing the full task.

work in batches

Some studies recommend you work in 90 – 120 minute sessions.  I can say having tried this that it does work.

During this time you allow no distractions,  including Social Media.

You need to test and try the times.  I found 120 works for the start of the day. But later I set the alarm for 90 minutes.  I find I have less focus then.

I hope these tips help you to improve your productivity.  If you are interested and prefer to listen and watch instead of reading.  I have 10 tips for productivity on my YouTube Channel.

Photographers Mindset

OUR OUTER WORLD IS A REFLECTION OF OUR INNER WORLD
Photographers’ Mindset is here to change your inner world and to help you create an outer world of success, happiness, productivity and abundance.
As a photographer and creative person our work is from our heart.  Making us more prone to Imposter Syndrome and Self-doubt than many other self-employed.
