Many photographers tell me how they struggle with productivity and procrastination. Often a by-product of working alone. In this blog, we are looking at 5 tips to help you be more productive in your day.
If we don’t plan our days then they will fill up with non-important things. Don’t let that happen.
Write out 3-7 tasks the night before that is important to get completed.
We might live in a world that celebrates multi-tasking. But all it does is reduce your productivity by 40%.
It’s time to celebrate focusing on one thing at a time!
Everyone is different. But we all have a time in the day we are more focused and productive. By working out yours you can get more done.
Mine is in the morning, if I get up at 6 am I can achieve so much more. But yours might be 1 pm.
Manage your diary around this time. To ensure you get the most out of your day.
A great trick to get started on the task your putting off. Is to decide to work on it for just 5 minutes.
Surprisingly when we trick ourselves this way, we end up working for longer. Often even completing the full task.
Some studies recommend you work in 90 – 120 minute sessions. I can say having tried this that it does work.
During this time you allow no distractions, including Social Media.
You need to test and try the times. I found 120 works for the start of the day. But later I set the alarm for 90 minutes. I find I have less focus then.
