I so wish I could tell you it does....
Unfortunately procrastination has that way of sneaking up on us in a ninja style way.
One day we are smashing out all the productivity in the world and the next minute we have been staring at the screen, scrolling Facebook or Instagram and an hour has passed by.
With all the tricks I know, I still have days, mornings or afternoons like this.
One thing I always do when I notice I am on the unproductive route is to ask myself what has changed. I can usually pinpoint something, maybe last night I didn’t get enough sleep (This is today as I type), or someone I know has said something that has triggered me and I can’t stop going over it in my head. Occasionally even both.
Awareness is the first key, it allows you to really look at what is happening and to help you prevent it in the future. If I didn’t sleep I can ask myself what changed? Did I do something different the night before, maybe I didn’t go on my daily walk so my body wasn’t physically tired. etc etc.
This is really important so I can work on avoiding the same thing happening or at least knowing if I make the same choices the day after may not be so productive.
One thing I know to do is not force the productivity… if your having one of those days/afternoons/mornings sitting at the computer trying to force yourself to get something done is never going to help you.
All it will do is make you more frustrated and annoyed. Take yourself away from the desk/office. Go for a walk, go read a book, sit in the garden, do some cooking, anything to get you out of your own headspace and then come back to the tasks.
You will find this helps bring you back to focusing. Spending hours at the computer feeling bad, when you can come back and do the task in half an hour is not supportive of you or your business.
