Stumbling on happiness what an interesting book and not what I thought it would be from the title. I wish I could remember which book suggested this or had a quote from it to tell you. But I saw the quote and after that purchased it. For the next book on my challenge.
I expected it to be more on happiness after seeing the title. Although that was a part of it, most of it was about our emotions. How our emotions effect what we see and therefore how we feel the future will be. How weather can effect us and in addition whether we think we have a good life or bad.
There is an amazing chapter on wealth and happiness… and it ended up being one of the best parts of the book for me. But it was a big wake up call on to how our beliefs are shaped to make us think that happiness is in things, in a partner, a child and money. When it really isn’t.
Why 4.5 stars when I am raving about it so far? Well I did find some of it harder to read. I am not sure if that is just that I needed more knowledge of things prior to reading. Somethings were hard to process and understand, however you may not find this. The beginning of the book I highlighted a lot less. I know at that point it made me wonder where it was going. If it was worth the read, therefore it lost .5 a star.
But the amazing chapters the ones I know I really needed to hear. Well Just WOW. A different perspective and a different way to look at things. Meanwhile as a result it has opened up my eyes to the way the economy has worked. Thus Making me question if I am looking at things through todays emotions and not what could be. Also realizing that I need to step back sometimes and look at the items I want to purchase not only side by side but imagine them in my house.
Above all it has me choosing action against inaction… no matter how uncomfortable it has made me.
Inconclusion I will be taking away a lot of lessons and things to implement both in my life and in my training to you.
